AHOSKIE, NC – Gracie Jones Gillespie, age 91, passed away on August 25, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Gillespie was born on February 4, 1924, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Newsome Jones in Nansemond County, VA. Gracie worked as a waitress and later a homemaker.

Besides her parents, Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Claude Gillespie; her son, Kenneth C. Gillespie; a brother, Clarence Jones; and a grandson.

Gracie is survived by her two daughters, Donna Milteer of Rich Square, NC, and Cheryl Adams and husband, Gene of Windsor, NC; a son, Howard M. Gillespie of Ahoskie, NC; 10 grandchildren, three step grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie on Friday, August 28, 2015, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Garrett Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Rev. Gary Saffell officiating.  A private burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, VA,
