Cheryl W. Carson

WOODLAND – Cheryl Devette White Carson was the youngest daughter of Joyce R. White and the late Chief Joseph E. White Jr. Cheryl was born June 12, 1969 and departed to be with the Lord, August 14, 2015.

Cheryl attended Northampton County Public Schools. She graduated from Elizabeth City State University, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, after which she pursued graduate studies at ECU, Greenville, North Carolina, and the University of Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee. Cheryl was employed as Marketing Manager at the University of Tennessee Press, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Cheryl’s hobbies were kayaking, mountain climbing, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was fortunate to travel to India for a month with her beloved Rotary Club of Knoxville. She was also active with the Girl Scouts and many other civic organizations.

Cheryl attended Beaverdale Baptist Church until her illness.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce R. White of the home; sister, Cynthia (Tracy) Moore of the home; brother, Terrance White of Hackensack, New Jersey; cousin, Alonzo Askew of the home who was like a brother; nephew, Joseph Clinton Henry, III of Greensboro, North Carolina; niece, Kendra Futrell of Ahoskie, North Carolina; aunts, Janie White of Ossining, New York, and Montieea Foots of St. Louis, Missouri; uncles, Aaron White (Alma) of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Carl White of Aulander, North Carolina; cousins, relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Woodland. Burial will be in the White Family Cemetery, Woodland.
