Roger D. Johnson

ROXOBEL – Mr. Roger Donald “Mack” Johnson, age 87, died at the Rich Square Health Care Center in Rich Square, NC on Wednesday, August 5, 2015.  He was a native of Bertie County born to the late Beulah and Sam Johnson.

Mr. Johnson served with the US Army. He loved gardening, hunting raccoon, feeding his birds, watching sports and westerns.  He was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel, NC.

Preceding him in death other than his parents are his wife Pauline Hall Johnson; daughter, Amy Johnson Perry; sister, Bernice Johnson Glover; and brothers, Jesse, Eston, Edgar, Bill and S.V. Johnson.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Daughtry and her husband Donald of Rich Square, NC; son, Donald “Don” Johnson and his wife Debra of Franklin, VA; sister, Frances Johnson Lassiter of Charlotte, NC; and five grandchildren, Kelly Daughtry Manning and her husband Michael of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Matthew Johnson and his wife Rebecca of Franklin, VA, Aaron Johnson of Franklin, VA, Nicholas Perry of Smithfield, VA and Lauren Perry of Smithfield, VA.  Also surviving is one great grandson, Nathan Manning of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and son-in-law, Joey Perry of Smithfield, VA.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery in Roxobel.  Officiating will be Dr. Dave Rimel, Rev. H.C. Boschen and Rev. Roger Johnson.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
