CHESTERFIELD, VA – Dorothy Louise Dilday Sweat, 84, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015.

Born in Ahoskie, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clayton W. and Doris Earley Dilday. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert David Sweat, Sr; and four brothers, Walter R., Linwood L., Carroll W., and Clayton E. Dilday.

Dorothy retired after many years with the Virginia Department of Transportation. She was member and Past Worthy Matron of Alpha Chapter No. 1, order of Eastern Star in Petersburg, VA.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, Robert David Sweat, Jr. (Darlene) of Chesterfield, VA, Kenneth Wayne Sweat (Diane “Dee”) of Amelia, VA, and Charles Jeffrey Sweat (Brenda) of Chesterfield, VA; six grandchildren, Tiffany Dawn Ashton (Tim) of Chester, VA, Samantha Marie Sweat of Chesterfield, VA, Robert David Sweat, III (Sara) of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Ryan Sweat (Diana) of Chesterfield, VA, Dustin Chance Arsenault of Colonial Heights, VA, and Jesse Brandon Arsenault of Midlothian, VA; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Brooke Arsenault, Layla Grace Arsenault, Makayla Grace Ashton, Lettie Dove Sweat, Colton Troy Arsenault, Ethan Cole Arsenault, Tucker David Sweat, and Gunner James Ashton; and numerous other extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Chester, VA Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Winfree officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
