CLARKSVILLE, TN – Helen Baker Robbins, age 80, went home to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on May 17, 2015. She departed this world peacefully at her home with her family by her side.

Helen was born on August 19, 1934, in Kelford, N.C. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy N. Baker. She is also preceded in death by six of her 13 siblings: Frank and Edward Baker, Beulah Baker White, Clara Baker Showalter, Sam Baker, and Alice Baker.

Helen is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, Carlton Robbins of Clarksville, TN; four children, Joyce Kirksey (John), Greg Robbins (Annadell), Betsy Myers (Joey), and Barbara Wright (Shane); 11 grandchildren, Christopher Kirksey (Amy), Benjamin Kirksey (Erica), Rebecca Smith (Joshua), Andrew Robbins, Timothy Myers (Ruthe), Elisabeth Myers, Joshua Myers, Hannah Myers, James Wright, Samuel Wright, and Noah Wright; and three great-grandchildren; Katie Smith, Kourtney Smith, and Christopher Smith.

Helen Baker Robbins is also survived by seven siblings, Dorothy Baker of Kelford, NC, Rev. Robert Baker of Cobbs Creek, VA, Frances Baker McCarthy and Lucy Lake Baker of Kelford, NC, Jerry Baker (Pat) Kelford, NC, Winford Baker Williford (Ken Sr.) of Vale, NC, and Faye Baker Fulton (Art) of Kelford, NC; and one brother-in-law, Ralph Showalter of South Carolina. She had 31 nieces and nephews, Shirley Harden, Virgia Bordeaux, Kate Wolfe, Richard White, Rebecca Himelright, Linda Megill, Ethel White Mizelle, and Judy White Briggs; Gary Showalter, Beverly Showalter Brown, Cathleen and Steve Baker, Betty Trangalli, Debbie Baker, Dan and JoAnne McCarthy, Patricia Caldwell and Roy McCarthy; Mike Baker and Cindy Tinkham, Deloris Wall, Rose Swink, Ken and David Roy Williford, Kathy Queen, Stanley and Rod Williford, Curtis and Roger Fulton, Wanda Drewry, and Sherry Spence. She had numerous great nieces and nephews and numerous great great nieces and nephews.

Helen faithfully walked with her Lord and Savior, exemplifying a Godly example for those around her, especially her family; a Proverbs 31 woman. Within that obedience to Christ, she selflessly devoted her life to her marriage, and rearing her children… “her children rise up and called her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her.”

Helen enjoyed reading, studying the living Word of God, quilting, gardening, cooking, hosting family dinners, and having loved ones near. She also held dear the relationships and worship time she experienced in her Sunday School Class, known as “The Love Class” at First Baptist Church, led by Woody Parker.

A celebration of Helen’s life was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Dr. Felts Dent and Brother Joey Myers officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Helen’s pallbearers were her grandsons; honorary pallbearers were “The Love Class” of FBC, Clarksville, TN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Together We Build building fund at FBC, Clarksville, TN. Donations also may be made to The Liberty Baptist Church building fund in Pleasant View, TN.

Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN, handled the arrangements.
