WINDSOR – Rhodes Bond Jr. was born to the late Rhodes Bond Sr. and Beatrice Bond on August 14, 1932. He departed this life on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his home in Windsor, NC.

Rhodes was the fourth of his five siblings from the union of Rhodes and Beatrice Bond. Rhodes was united in holy matrimony to Queenie E. Watson. They were married for 65 years. To this union were three children: Barbara Evans, Carl K. (Joycelyn) Bond, and Timothy (Charlotte) Outlaw, all of Windsor, NC.

Rhodes grew up in the Windsor community. At an early age he gave his life to Christ at a revival at Sandy Point Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in the Hoggard Mill Creek. Rhodes worked alongside his mother and father on the Powell & Stokes Farm, where he got his feel and passion for farming at the age of 13. Rhodes farmed for over 65 plus years. He was a valuable community leader that helped people in any that he could. He was a business man that was known all over North Carolina. Besides farming, his other passion was attending equipment sales. He was also an entrepreneur in his own way and was the owner and operator of a used car lot and new and used farm equipment company.  He served on several county boards and was a 3rd degree Mason in the Republican Lodge.

Rhodes acquired many lifelong friends through his journey of life and always believed in working to better his community.

Rhodes leaves to cherish his memories with his beloved wife, Queenie W. Bond of the home; daughter, Barbara Evans of Windsor; two sons; Carl (Joycelyn) Bond of Windsor, and Timothy (Charlotte) Outlaw of Windsor; adopted daughter, Mary Jean (Ralph) Underwood of Baltimore, Maryland; sister, Harriett Heckstall of  Nyack, NY; an aunt, Sadie Bond of New Bern, NC; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and five special friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Point Baptist Church in Windsor, NC.  Interment in the church cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Fields officiating.
