Lou H. Rawls

OXFORD – Lou Hedspeth Rawls, 93, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015. Mrs. Rawls was born in Northampton County, North Carolina on September 19, 1921 to the late Walter and Mattie Hedspeth. She was a beloved wife and mother.

Ms. Rawls loved gardening, playing cards, visiting with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and helping others from her community. She is a member of Conway Baptist Church. In recent years, she has been a resident of Oxford with her daughters.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, J.E. Rawls, a Lieutenant in the North Carolina State Highway Patrol; and a daughter, Bobbie Wilson.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty R. Crews of Oxford, NC; five grandchildren, Janie Crews of Oxford, Eddie Crews and his wife MaryAnn of Oxford, Elizabeth Crews of Alexandria, VA, Cathy Crews of Houston TX, and Dana Vaughan and her husband Craig of Oxford; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney Vaughan, Madeline Crews, and Ryan Crews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 am at the Conway Town Cemetery, Conway, North Carolina.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Conway Baptist Church, 229 North Church Street, Conway, NC 27820.
