Joseph M. Harrell

WASHINGTON – Joseph Michael “Mike” Harrell, age 63, a resident of Woolard Avenue, Washington, NC, passed away on May 18, 2015 at home. Mr. Harrell was born in Ahoskie, NC on December 25, 1951 to the late Zebulon Harrell and Idalia Byrd Harrell, who survives.  He was a graduate of  Bertie Senior High School and Roanoke-Chowan Community College.

He was married to the former Sherri Boyd, who predeceased him in 2006. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Miranda Brooke Harrell of Washington, NC; his nephew, Trent Davidson of Colerain, NC; and his sister, Phyllis Davidson (Kenny) of Colerain, NC.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister, Esther Harrell.

He was a former fire fighter with the Bertie County Fire Department and was also a retired EMT with Beaufort County Hospital and the City of Washington.  He was a member of Alligood Church of God. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Perrytown Assembly of God Church in Colerain, officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro, Pastor Randy Pierce, and Pastor David Baker, and burial will follow at HillcrestCemetery in Colerain.  Jimmy Pierce, Trent Davidson, Ken Harrell, Richard Daniels, Bud Lee and Billy Perry will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service  and other times at the home of Idalia Harrell, 417 Sand Hill Rd., Colerain, NC
