COFIELD – Alan Foster Bazemore, age 54, of Cofield, passed away on May 5, 2015 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Alan was born on April 18, 1961 to William Edgar and Annie White Bazemore in Ahoskie, NC. He worked hard on the family farm and in his carpentry business to support his family which he loved dearly.  He was a humble man, loved by all who knew him. Alan was always willing to help other people in any way he could, expecting nothing in return. He was a man who loved to hear people laugh, loved the outdoors, and loved his horses, Sugar and Adam.  He loved Cottons Island Road, as was evident by his constant battle with the beavers, building dams that were backing the water, flooding the road and farm.

Left to cherish Alan’s memory are his daughters, Crystal V. Bazemore of Ahoskie, NC, and Deborah Ann Bazemore of Newport, NC; his mother, Annie Mae White Bazemore; his sister, Temperance Newsome Castelow of Ahoskie, NC; his brother, William Michael Bazemore and wife, JoAnn of Cofield, NC; a grandson, Adrian Scott Dilday; two granddaughters, Layla Marie Johnston, and Madison Lee Johnston; and a special friend and companion, Robin Stradley.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Edgar Bazemore.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, 2:00 pm at the Bazemore Family Cemetery, Cofield, NC with the Rev. Lloyd Dunlow officiating.
