AHOSKIE – Maurice Augustus Reynolds, Sr., 62, a resident of Ahoskie, NC, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Maurice a native of Portsmouth, VA, was born on August 29, 1952 to Garon and Myrtle Elizabeth Lang Reynolds.

He was a Self-Employed Truck Driver for 27 years, contracted with Carolina National Transportation, Inc. in Norfolk, VA. Prior to becoming a Truck Driver he worked his way up from a machinist specialist, department X43, to Supervisor at Newport News Shipyard in Newport News, Virginia.

Maurice loved to travel, he could give directions to anywhere you wanted to go. He loved using a map, being outdoors, and building things with his hands. He built two buildings with just an idea no blueprints. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks and explaining how to work on anything mechanical. When he was not performing maintenance on his trucks he enjoyed watching TV, listening to oldies music, laughing and spending time with his family.

He loved spending time with his elders, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Brown, his late Uncle Chief Ruben Lewis, and Uncle Darnell Lang Sr., who always had something for him to work on. He held close his cousin, Rev. Darnell Lang Jr. (Junie) and close friend McDaniel Hardy Sr. (Mac). Maurice loved God and raised his children to treat people like they wanted to be treated.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife Patricia Brown Reynolds; five children whom he loved and was very proud of them: three sons, Maurice Augustus Reynolds Jr. of Ahoskie, NC., Mario D’von Reynolds of Bethel, NC., and Marcus Orlando Reynolds of Knightdale, NC; and two daughters, Margo Reynolds Howard and husband Daryl Tracy Howard of Ahoskie, NC and Monica Reynolds Bullock and husband Kent Ray Bullock Sr. of Williamston, NC. He also had seven grandchildren that he loved dearly and was always excited to spend time with them: three granddaughters, Brianna Alyssia Howard, Sarah Elizabeth Howard, and Sophia Lauren Howard; and four grandsons Kent Ray Bullock Jr., Alston Ryan Bullock, Travis Scott Bullock, and Kevin Bryan Bullock. He is also survived by his sisters Myrtle Reynolds Tann and husband Richard Tann, and Violaree Reynolds Butts; and his brother, Thomas Haywood Reynolds and wife Carolyn Reynolds; nieces: Johnette Stokley and husband Ben and Tasha Johnson; nephews: Charles Reynolds, Phillip Butts Jr. and wife Julita, Duane Gallon, Garon Johnson, Andre Fields, Thomas Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, John Reynolds and Joseph Reynolds; and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maurice was preceded death by his father, Garon Reynolds; his sister, Renee Fields; his mother, Myrtle Elizabeth Lang Reynolds; and a nephew, Leon Fields.

Family will be present during viewing held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
