Chester D. Rogerson

ROANOKE RAPIDS – Chester Dunn Rogerson, 80, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015.  He was son of the late Chester Wilton and Elizabeth Dunn Rogerson.

Chester graduated from Ahoskie High School in 1952 where he played on the 1951-52 State Championship Teams in football. He also played in the Shrine Bowl his senior year. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1956.  He devoted his career to education teaching in Ahoskie for two years and then worked with the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District from 1959 until his retirement in 1996.  Chester was a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Griffin Rogerson; his son, Wilton Rogerson and his wife, Megan of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Elizabeth Loschiavo and her husband, Jim of Dumfries, VA; his brothers, Billy Rogerson and his wife, Paula of Roanoke Rapids, G.C. Rogerson and his wife, Faye of La Plata, MD, and Zeb Rogerson of Vienna, VA; his grandchildren, Cameron Rogerson, Kaitlin Rogerson, Courtney Rogerson, Riley Mills, and Brayden Mills; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Askew Funeral and Cremation Services.  Graveside services will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Redmond officiating.
