Chubbie’s shooter sought

AHOSKIE – Details remain scarce at this hour, but it is known that the Ahoskie Police are actively searching for an individual that shot a man here early this morning (Saturday).

Ahoskie Police Captain Michele Garrett told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that a call was received sometimes after 1 a.m. regarding a fight at Chubbie’s Bar & Grill on Jersey Street.

Garrett said when APD officers arrived they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. She added that the victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Vidant Roanoke-ChowanHospital and later transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. His condition is listed as critical, but stable.

Garrett said the shooting occurred in the parking lot of Chubbie’s.  She added there was a fight inside the establishment and another one outside prior to the shooting.

There was no information available concerning the shooter, other than that person remains at large.
