COLERAIN – Mrs. Nora Miller Sumner, age 77, of Colerain, passed away on March 30, 2015 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

She was born on October 28, 1937 to Thellie Gye and Earline Freeman Miller in Bertie County, NC. Nora and her husband, Willie, ran N&W store in Powellsville, NC for a number of years. She later retired from Pinewood Manor as an assistant administrator. Nora always had a love for taking care of the elderly, collecting dolls, jigsaw puzzles and arts and crafts. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by husband, Willie Arvis Sumner; father, Thellie Gye Miller; and mother, Earline Freeman Miller.

Nora is survived by her daughter, Lisa S. Snyder and husband Donald of Williamston, NC; her grandson, Arvis Clayton Snyder of Beargrass, NC; great-granddaughter, Ashley Snyder, and great-grandson, Matthew Snyder, both of Beargrass, NC.

Visitation will be held at the home of her daughter, Lisa, 1156 Ridge Street, Williamston, NC 27892.

Graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Miller Family Cemetery, Colerain, NC, with the Rev. Ray Faircloth, officiating.
