COLERAIN – Teresa Brooks Brown, age 60, of Colerain, passed away with her mother on February 10, 2015 in an unfortunate accident.

She was born on June 3, 1954 to James and Bernice Brooks in Ahoskie, NC. Teresa worked as an Administrative Assistant for DeFord, Limited for 30 years.

Teresa will be fondly remembered for many things: her dedication to her family and friends and her beloved Tar Heels; her concern for others above self; and being a second mother to many. She was a master organizer and planner, and was the leader of a vibrant youth ministry for many years at St. John’s Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.  Above all, she provided much warmth and love as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

Teresa is survived by her husband Charlie; daughter, Tonia Meade and husband Brian of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Nate Brown and wife Rachael of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Lynn Brooks and his wife Karen of Colerain, NC, and Wayne Brooks and wife Sandra of Chesapeake, VA; grandson, Dylan Miller of Virginia Beach, VA; and granddaughter, Deanna Miller of Virginia Beach, VA.

A time to visit with the families of Teresa and her mother will be Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service with the Rev. Hank Brooks and the Rev. Mike Willard officiating.
