MURFREESBORO – Nellie Belche Shewbart, age 91, of Murfreesboro, passed away on February 5, 2015 at the Southampton Memorial Hospital of Franklin, VA

She was a native of Northampton County, born on October 26, 1923 to the late Peter and Lela Belche.  Mrs. Shewbart worked in the food service business most of her life.  She is greatly remembered as the manager of the College Inn Restaurant in Murfreesboro where she worked for over thirty years. Mrs. Shewbart was a member of the Murfreesboro Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her books with others.  Mrs. Shewbart loved her family and her grandson was one of biggest joys of her life.

Preceding Mrs. Shewbart in death other than her mother and father are her husband, Earl Lloyd Shewbart; three sisters, Evie Liverman, Mary Vinson and Bernice Rishkel; and three brothers, Gary, Clyde and Waverley Belche.

Survivors include two daughters, Earlene Shewbart Futrell and her husband Larry of Murfreesboro, NC, and Patti Shewbart Llewellyn and her husband Jeff of Pendleton, NC; grandson, Jeffrey Futrell and his wife Debra of Wilson, NC; two great-granddaughters, Georgia Pearson Futrell of Wilson, NC, and Emilee Wilson Futrell of Wilson, NC; and two nieces, Mary Lee Willoughby and her husband William of Wilson, NC and Vera R. Ricks of Conway, NC.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel of Murfreesboro, NC.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery of Murfreesboro, NC with Dr. Lee Canipe officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Murfreesboro Baptist Church, 200 West Main Street, Murfreesboro, NC  27855.
