MURFREESBORO – Mr. William Duncan “Billy” Parker, age 85 of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Hampton Manor in Gaston, NC.

Mr. Parker was born July 3, 1929 in Hertford County, NC, the son of the late Clarence Parker and Ruby Sewell Parker.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Joan Louise Hardin Parker.

Mr. Parker retired as postmaster at New Hill, NC.  He was past member of McCullens Ruritan and Carrollton Ruritan and had served as past president. He loved fishing and antiques.

He is survived by his children, Greg Parker and his wife Patricia of Murfreesboro, NC, Jeffrey Parker and his wife Eliana of Alexandria, VA and Lorri Parker Varnum and her husband Tim of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Caroline Joan Parker, Joan Carlie Parker and Kevin Bracy and his wife Bonnie; his brother, Donald Ray Parker; and his sister, Berna Dean Byrum, both of Ahoskie, NC.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with the Rev. Al Jarrell and the Rev. Tommy Davidson officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 9, 2015 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
