Ruth Inez Savage Smith was born on April 26, 1939 in Duplin County to the late Staten Savage, Sr. and Esther Langston Savage. She departed this life Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC.

Ruth was married to Lawrence Roosevelt Smith, Sr. for 46 years, and two children, Lawrence Roosevelt, Jr. and Carla Mae Smith, were born to this union.  Carla Mae preceded Ruth in death.

She was a graduate of E.E. Smith High School, Kenansville, and Barnes Business School, Goldsboro, NC.

The wake will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Missionary Church Colerain. The home going service will be Monday January 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. also at First Baptist Missionary Church in Colerain, NC.

Hertford County Undertakers will be handling the arrangements.
