AHOSKIE – McCoy Barmer, age 81, of Ahoskie, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Creekside Care & Rehab of Ahoskie, NC.

He was born on December 15, 1933 to Zora and Nola Jernigan. McCoy worked as a mechanic for H. B. Powell’s Service Center for many years. He owned chicken houses and has worked for Hog Slat of Ahoskie. McCoy was a loving father and grandfather.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Jernigan.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Janet Kalata of Kempsville, VA, and Rose Morris and her husband Horace of Ahoskie, NC; two granddaughters, Beverly White and her husband Walter of Ahoskie, NC, and Tammy Casper and her husband Brian of Ahoskie, NC; three grandsons, Michael Morris and his wife Joy of Ahoskie, NC, Jay Jernigan of Elizabeth City, NC, and Wesley Thomas of Ahoskie, NC; and seven great grandchildren.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with the Rev. Ray Faison officiating.
