AHOSKIE – The Ahoskie Police are searching for the person or persons responsible for a robbery here this morning (Monday).

Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that an employee of the Duck Thru convenience store on Memorial Drive (across from Newmarket Shopping Center) was accosted in the parking lot of the business and made off with a bank bag containing an undetermined amount of cash.

The employee was said to be leaving the store to make a bank deposit at around 11:05 a.m.

Fitzhugh said the employee required medical attention and was transported to Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital by Hertford County EMS. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

“We’re still very early in the investigation at this point, so we are unaware at this particular time if the suspect was alone or if others were involved,” Fitzhugh said.

The Ahoskie Police do have a possible lead on a suspect vehicle – a late model, green, extended cab pick-up truck with a silver colored right front corner panel. That vehicle, which also reportedly has dark tinted windows, was last seen traveling south on US 13.

Anyone with information on that vehicle or perhaps noticed something in the Duck Thru parking lot shortly after 11 a.m. this morning are encouraged to contact the Ahoskie Police Department at 252-332-5011.
