WOODLAND – Mr. William Daniel “Danny” Martin, age 60, of Woodland, NC passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Danny was born April 26, 1954 in Halifax County, NC, the son of the late William Croman Martin and Jane Draper Martin Powers.  He was a mechanic. He was owner of Martin Motor Sports and Garage in Woodland. He was a volunteer with the Woodland Fire Department and also volunteered for ten years with the Woodland Rescue Squad.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his wife Norma Jean Martin; his three children, Amanda Lezon and her husband Jay of Chesapeake, VA, William Daniel Martin Jr. of Woodland, and Brian Jason Martin of Milwaukee, NC; his grandson, Roman Austin Dean Martin of Conway; and two half brothers, Wilson Powers of Chicago and  James Powers of Conway.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Danny will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Potecasi Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Browder officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Fire Department.
