SCOTLAND NECK – Mr. Dalton Ray Ivey, Sr., age 71, died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC on Monday, January 5, 2015.

He was a native of Halifax County, born to the late Nellie and Thomas Ivey. Mr. Ivey grew up in Northampton County, living in Rich Square and graduated from Rich Square High School.  Mr. Ivey was a very hard worker and retired as a livestock farmer working with Carroll Foods.  Following retirement he loved to watch football and old movies.

He was preceded in death by mother, Nellie Gardner Ivey, father, Thomas Edward Ivey, and brother, George Ivey.

Survivors include his four sons, Dalton Ray Ivey, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Jonathan Brett Ivey of Greenville, NC, Shaun Ivey of Orlando, FL, and Samuel Ivey and his wife BJ of Ahoskie, NC; two brothers, Billy Ivey and his wife Sarah of Rich Square, NC, and Larry Ivey and his wife Jane of Holden Beach, NC; sister, Glenda Morris and her husband John of Rich Square, NC; and one grandson, Caleb Ivey of Woodland, NC.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, NC, with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the memorial service.
