Joan B. Harden

WINDSOR – Joan Bowen Harden, 81, of White Oak Road, Windsor, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

She was born in South Norfolk, VA on July 2, 1933 to the late Edith Marie Bowen and Leo Parker and was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Malcolm Harden, and a son, Marty Harden. Joan was a member of Askewville Baptist Church and former member of the Askewville Ladies Auxiliary Fire Department and the Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Askewville Baptist Church by the Rev. Freddie Harris and the Rev. Stephen Moore. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Edith H. Williford and husband James of Windsor; sons, Barry Harden and wife Lisa of Raleigh, and Richie Harden of Windsor; grandchildren, Jason and Waylon Williford, Zoey and Whitney Harden, Blake and Justin Harden, Julie Murff, and Jarrod Zinner; and great grandchildren, Alex, Abigail, Charlie and Gwen Williford, Jacob and Lillian Harden, Abby and Eli Murff, and Jarrod Zinner, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home and at other times from the home of Richie Harden, 732 White Oak Road, Windsor, NC.
