BUENA VISTA, VA – Anne Johnston Sterrett, age 75, died on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Buena Vista, VA.

Mrs. Sterrett was born in Staunton, VA, on September 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Anne Bell Crop and James Edward Johnston. She was a 1957 graduate of Parry McCluer High School. Anne, affectionately known to many as “Boots”, worked for the City of Buena Vista in the water billing department, which also included answering the switchboard.  In addition, she organized and maintained the Green Hill Cemetery records for over 20 years.  She was a 20 year life member of the Buena Vista Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered as cashier and head “chatter” at many community events, including the Maury River Fiddler’s Convention for many years.

Anne Sterrett is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna Robertson Riordan of Anchorage, AK; her son, Dennis H. Robertson and friend, Wayne Fairless of Ahoskie, NC; and daughter, Pamela Robertson Stone and husband, John of Franklin, TN. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jesse Hardy-Robertson Saunders and husband, Gordon of Midlothian, VA; Rachel Ann Stone and John Ryan Stone of Franklin, TN; and great grandchildren Noah Abram Saunders and Kain Izreal Saunders of Midlothian, VA.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Sterrett was predeceased by her husband, John Sterrett.

The family will receive friends at Bolling, Grose & Lots Funeral Home on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 1-3 pm.   A memorial service will be held at Penny Park, 2100 Forest Avenue, Buena Vista, VA on Sunday January 4, 2015 at 3:30 pm with the Reverend Butch Grow officiating. A Committal Service will follow at GreenHillCemetery, 10th Street, Buena Vista, VA 24416.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorial donations be made to the Buena Vista Fire Department, 2010 Sycamore Avenue, Buena VistaVA 24416.
