A Lasker teen was arrested Dec. 1 in Northampton County on suspicion of breaking-and-entering following a burglary at Tri-County Airport, located in Hertford County.

In November a break-in was reported at a hangar at the airport located on Tri-County Airport Road. Several items were reported missing from the hangar, including an electrical panel box, some hand tools, airplane batteries, and other aviation accessories.

An investigation was begun by Hertford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Carl Conner, assisted by Det. Sgt. John Joyner.

Meanwhile, a citizen familiar with the stolen items came forward and contacted the Sheriff’s Office with information regarding the break-in.

The Sheriff’s Department investigation then led investigators to Milestone Metals, located on US-13 South in Ahoskie, where it is believed several of the stolen items had been taken.

Investigators say they then drew up an arrest warrant for a suspect involved in the incident.

On Dec. 1 Northampton County Sheriff’s deputies, acting on a tip they had received, stopped a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Michael Stuhr of Lasker and he was taken into custody.

Following his arrest, Stuhr was transferred to Hertford County where he went before a magistrate and bond was set at $30,000. Stuhr was released on Dec. 2 after posting bond.

According to authorities, Stuhr has been charged with felony larceny, felony possession of stolen property, and felony breaking and entering.
