AHOSKIE – Roma Kelley Rider, age 85, of Ahoskie passed away on November 26, 2014 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born on September 12, 1929 to Lewis and Mary (Dudley) Kelley in Carmel, NY. Roma was a long time church member and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Claude Wilbur Ryder, Jr.; a daughter, Ramona Ryder; and a great-grandson, David R. Cobb.

Roma is survived by three daughters, Rhoda and husband John Hensley of Winston Salem, Noreen and husband Kevin Hannon of Ahoskie, and Norma Ryder of WV; seven granddaughters, Mary Keister, Patti Mongold, Becky Hackey, Sarah Jarvis, Katrina Cobb, Jackie Cook, and Kathy Kelley; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ian, D.J., Anthony, Randy, Robert, Jennifer, Joshua, Dylan, Matthew, Cody, Shiane, and Andrew.

A memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Glaze officiating.
