Julie P. Sumner

BURLINGTON – Julie Pearce Sumner, 80, of Alamance House, 2766 Grand Oaks Boulevard, Burlington, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 7:59 a.m.

A native of Northampton County, NC, she was the daughter of Luther Franklin Pearce, Sr. and Mariam Wheeler Pearce, both deceased. She was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class and Circle #6. Julie loved vanilla milkshakes (no cherry please), bird watching, the Hallmark channel, but most of all her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Nan Sumner of Durham, and Beth Sumner Lowe and husband Ed of Elon; two grandchildren, Will Lowe and Sam Lowe, both of Elon; five granddogs; two sisters, Agnes P. Matthews of Rocky Mount, and Sally P. Kidd of Kensington, MD; and numerous treasured nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Luther F. Pearce, Jr. and two sisters, Ethel P. Futrell and Betty P. Haynie.

A memorial service will be conducted at Graham Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell with the family receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church parlor.  Other times the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Beth Lowe.

The family would like to thank the staff of Burlington Manor and Alamance House for their care. They would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Hospice Home for the special care given to Julie and her daughters.
