COMO – Helen Flythe Howell, age 88, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home of Como, NC.

Mrs. Howell was born in Northampton County on December 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Millard and Leatha Boone Flythe.  She was a longtime member of Buckhorn Baptist Church and was retired after many years of serving the area as a hairdresser.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Vicki H. Benthall and husband, Frank of Como, NC; two sons, Larry Howell and wife, Linda of Como, NC, and Gary Howell and wife, Sheri of Murfreesboro, NC; three grandsons, Benjy Howell of Como, NC, Anthony Howell of VA, and Parker Howell of Murfreesboro, NC; two granddaughters, Kelly Anderson of Chesapeake, VA, and Jessica Ruiz of Murfreesboro, NC; and great grandchildren, Grayson Anderson, Ethyn Beachboard, and Shelby Anderson.

Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Roy William Howell; and a son, Wayne Howell.

A graveside celebration of life service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery in Como, NC with Rev. Dr. J. Brabban and Rev. Sean Gallagher officiating.
