Violet J. Cooke

AHOSKIE – Violet Jones Cooke, age 71 of Ahoskie, passed away on October 25, 2014 at the Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.

She was born on November 15, 1942 to the late Sidney “Aris” and Emma Farmer Jones in Hertford County, NC. Violet worked as a teacher for Aulander Elementary for many years.  She loved being a part of and the fellowship of The Red Hat Society and was a member of the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a very important part of the Church Daycare. Violet was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Eunice “Tine” Jones.

Survivors include her husband Robert Cooke, Jr.; two sons, Dr. Robert Glenn Cooke III and his wife, Lynn, and William “Will” Orion Cooke; and two granddaughters, Emily and Erin Cooke, all of Ahoskie, NC; and two brothers, Sidney Jones and his wife, Rhonda, and Oscar Jones and his wife, Linda, both of Aulander, NC.

A time to visit with the family will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with the Rev. Taylor Latham officiating, and burial to follow at Job Cemetery.
