James M. Beasley

COLERAIN – James Moore Beasley died Thursday, June 5, 2014.

Born in Hertford County, on February 13, 1959, he was the son of C. Wood Beasley and Blair Robinson Beasley of Colerain.  A graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, VA, and later from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, he was a partner in Beasley Farms and Sandy Land Peanut Company, and owned Northern Wild Reds in Dillingham, Alaska.  Major among Jim’s interests were his travels, the Outer Banks, and many adventurous dive trips with his sons.  He had a deep love for Alaska which grew after many years of commercial fishing for salmon.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence Wood Beasley and Lucile Williams Beasley of Colerain, and Horace Palmer Robinson and Lillian Moore Robinson of Littleton.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sons, Andrew Jackson Beasley and Henderson McDade Beasley; by his brothers, C. Wood Beasley, III and wife Laura, and Horace Palmer Beasley; and by his nephews, C. Wood Beasley, IV and Fletcher Matheson Beasley.

A celebration of his life will be held Monday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the family plot at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Vidant Service League Inpatient Hospice, c/o VHMC Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville, NC  27835, or to a charity of one’s choice.
