Windsor father murdered

WILLIAMSTON – The search is underway for those involved in taking the life of a young Bertie County father who was a mere 11 days shy of his 20th birthday.

According to information on the WNCT – TV 9 website (www.wnct.com), Timothy Lloyd Baylor III of Windsor was shot and killed Friday night in Williamston.

On Monday, the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald telephoned the Williamston Police Department and was informed to call back on Tuesday, since Monday was a holiday.

In the WNCT online story, Williamston Police received a call around 9:40 p.m. and found Baylor with a gunshot wound in front of a residence located in the 200 block of Martin Street. Baylor, the father of a three-month-old, was transported to Martin General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Baylor’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville.

On Sunday, family and friends gathered at Baylor’s mother’s home in Windsor. Meanwhile, friends placed flowers and a cross where Baylor was shot and killed in Williamston.

The Williamston Police Department has the shooting under investigation and asks anyone with information to call 252-792-2124 or Martin County Crime Stoppers at 252-792-8800. The Williamston PD is being assisted in the murder probe by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
