ROXOBEL – Mrs. Sally Elizabeth Harrell Parker, age 84 of 1006 East Church Street, Roxobel, died Monday April 7, 2014 at VidantRoanoke-ChowanHospital in Ahoskie.
Mrs. Parker was born June 15, 1929 in Hertford County, the daughter of the late Edgar H. Harrell and Gertrude Harrell. She was also predeceased by her husband, J.C. Parker; and a grandson, Brandon Mitchell; and a sister, Rachel Martin.
She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of the WMU. She was also active in Relay For Life of Hertford-Gates and Echoes of Love. She enjoyed being with friends while crafting quilts.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Lassiter of St Johns, Yvonne Cooper and husband, Jimmy, of Whitakers, June Joyner and husband, Manuel, Sr., of Roxobel, Anne Brinkley and late husband Jackie of Ahoskie, and Patty Mitchell and husband, Gene, of Roxobel; one son, Alton Parker and wife, Martha, of Roxobel; her brothers, Calvin Harrell and wife Ginny, Kenneth Harrell, and Ronnie Harrell and wife Canara; her sisters, Barbara Baker and husband J.G., Paige Bryant and husband Jackie, and Thelma Helms and husband Frazier; her ten grandchildren, Dawn Cooper Jones and husband Toby, Kimberly Lassiter Lewis and husband Matt, Manuel Joyner, Jr., Mitchell Joyner and wife Sarah, Sheri Brinkley Futrell and husband Mike, Josh Brinkley and wife Jessica, Ashley Parker Dixon and husband Mitchell, Anna Parker, Abby Parker and Courtney Mitchell; and eight great grandchildren, Hanna Jones, Sarah Grace Jones, Steven Futrell, Parker Dixon, Michaela Futrell, Mason Joyner, Garrett Joyner, and Lily Ann Brinkley. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Parker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Run Baptist Church in Roxobel with the Rev. Dave Rimel, the Rev. H.C. Boschen and the Rev. Don Polvadore officiating. Burial will follow at Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery in Roxobel.
The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home.
