WASHINGTON – Elizabeth Bonner Moss Britt, age 95, a resident of 109 Palmer Place, Washington, died Sunday, February 23, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church and were conducted by Dr. Jerry Bron and the Rev. Lee Kinney. Burial followed in Oakdale Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Lee Morton Cooper, Jr., Preston Turner, Franklin Johnston, William Oden, Jr., Thomas Vann, and A. Dumay Gorham II.  Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Henry L. Stephenson, James G. Martin, Henry Blount Rumley, Dr. Robert Sandy, Dr. Josh Tayloe, William P. Mayo, Sr. and James G. Sullivan.

Mrs. Britt was born in Washington, NC on October 15, 1918 to the late Frank and Mary Russell Moss. She was married to E. Knox Britt who preceded her in death on February 27, 1979. Mrs. Britt was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Washington.

Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Bonner Bradshaw and husband, Derris, of Washington, and Lindsay Britt Hornthal and husband, Dr. Allen Hornthal, of Edenton; grandchildren, Knox Hatton Cooper of Washington, John Campbell Cooper, Jr. of Washington, Mary Havens Cooper-Willis and husband, Mark, of Raleigh, Elizabeth Hornthal Worley and husband, Todd, of Raleigh, and Martha Lane Hornthal and partner, Kathleen Kincaid, of New York City, NY; and great grandchildren, Lindsay and Michael Worley, and Maria and Veronica Matos. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Havens Moss, Beverly Turpin Moss and Lindsay Russell Moss.
