Sylvia Baisey

AULANDER – Sylvia Nichols Smith Baisey, age 77 of Aulander, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 1, 1937 to the late Alvah and Eunice Brewer Farmer Nichols in HertfordCounty.

Sylvia worked as a Knitter for West Point Pepperell before retiring after 24 years. In her earlier years she loved fishing and crabbing with her lifelong friend, Linda Terry, and spending time with friends and family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Sylvia loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and extended family. In later years she returned to her home church, MillenniumPentecostalHolinessChurch, with her family to serve her Lord and Savior.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma  Jones, Dorothy Pritchard, and Velma Mitchell; and brothers, Samuel J. Farmer, Friday Farmer, and Ray Farmer.

Sylvia  is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Langdale and her husband, Larry, of Kill Devil Hills; two sons, Ronnie Elton Smith of Aulander, and James “B.B.” Baisey Jr. and his wife, Celeste, of Greenville; sister, Idell F. Harrell of Ahoskie; two brothers, James Farmer of Murfreesboro, and  Alvah “Nick” Nichols and his wife, Carol, of San Diego, CA; three granddaughters, Sheryl Alligood and her husband, Mark, of Edenton, Jenna Smith of Aulander, and Taylor Baisey of Chapel Hill; great-granddaughter, Sara Alligood of Edenton; two great-grandsons, Landon Parker of Aulander, and Connor Alligood of Edenton; and sister-in-laws, Frances Farmer of Ahoskie, and Evelyn Farmer of Aulander; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, with the Reverend Taylor Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery, Aulander. The family will assemble at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday for processional line up for service.
