GOLDSBORO – Jo Ann Williams, 52, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at her home.

Even though it was cut short, Jo Ann lived a full life. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and The Optimist Club. Her most important work, she would say, was as a member of the Oak Forest Church of Christ.

Jo Ann was born in Northampton County, NC, on December 27, 1960, to the late JB Vaughan and Earlene Deloatch Williams.

She was a graduate of East Carolina University and worked in the North Carolina public school system for more than 30 years.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Oak Forest Church of Christ in Goldsboro with Lennie Reagan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Jo Ann is survived by her son, Michael Williams, and his wife, Melissa, of Durham, and her granddaughter, Abigail. She is also survived by sisters Gloria Cloyd of Woodland, Irene Merchant of California, Gladys Tann and Rose Stephenson of Murfreesboro, Priscilla Spellman of Elizabeth City, and Linda Murphy of Como; and brothers, Robert Vaughan and Randolph Williams of Woodland, Larry Williams of Murfreesboro, and Edward Vaughan of Conway; one aunt, Bernice Parker of Conway; and a host of nieces and nephews.
