Irma P. Dunn

GREENVILLE – Irma Peele Dunn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Greenville, NC.

Irma was born September 23, 1916 in the Christian Harbor Community of Hertford County, NC. She attended school in Harrellsville, NC and graduated with honors from Ahoskie High School.

Irma was preceded by her parents, Perry Deanes and Eula Thurston Peele; her husband, David George Dunn; brothers, Linwood Peele, Lockwood Peele; and sister, Reba Charles.

Irma is survived by one sister, Ivor Deane Harmon. She is also survived by two daughters, June Dunn Parker (Henry) of Greenville, NC and Marlene Dunn Holland (Robert) of Rocky Mount, NC; and three grandchildren, Sarah Parker, and David and James Holland.

Irma lived in the Ahoskie area until 1964 when the Dunn family moved to Murfreesboro. She was an active member of the Murfreesboro United Methodist Church. In 2002, Irma moved to Greenville, NC to be near her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life after the passing of her husband, David in 1982. Irma enjoyed family gatherings, her church family, all kinds of music, gardening, and house plants. She also enjoyed seasonal decorating of her home and later her apartment.

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at noon at the Ahoskie Cemetery. The Rev. Monica Yungeberg officiated the service.

The family will receive friends any time at the Parker residence, 2005 Fern Drive, Greenville, NC 27858 and the Holland residence, 28 Winders Creek Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
