TARBORO – Martha Ann Parker Terry, 82, died Sunday, July 28, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at St. James Methodist Church, Tarboro.  The Reverend Bobby Tyson and the Reverend Caswell Shaw will be officiates of the service.  Burial will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park on U. S. Hwy 258 S. in Tarboro.

Martha was born and grew up in Aulander, NC.  She attended and graduated Aulander High School. She married Hubert Terry in 1951.  After raising a family she worked with Carolina Telephone from which she retired in 1992.

She is survived by a loving family including her husband, Hubert Terry; son, Dallas Reid Terry; daughter, Susan Terry Brown and husband, C. B. Brown, all of Tarboro; brothers, J. C. Parker Jr. and wife Mary Kay of Asheville, William Pete Parker and wife Elaine of Asheville, and Phil Parker and wife Nancy of Chapel Hill; a sister, Judy Alford and husband Guy of Tarboro; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Julian C. Parker; mother, Margaret Batts Parker; a daughter, Faye Terry; two sisters and one brother.

Martha was known by all who knew her as a devout Christian and a loving, caring person. She always had a positive and witty outlook, which was one of the many special qualities all her family and friends loved about her.

The family will receive friends at Carlisle Funeral Home, 701 Hospital Drive, Tarboro, NC from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, July 30; and at other times visitors will be received at the Terry home, 1901 Meredith Avenue, Tarboro, NC.
