COLERAIN – Nora Jones Newbern, 93, of Morris Ford Road, Colerain, died Wednesday May 22, 2013 at Ahoskie House.

She was born in Hertford County on April 25, 1920 to the late Thomas and Nora Ellis Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Newbern.

Mrs. Newbern was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked for Belk’s as a sales associate. She was a member of Mars Hill Baptist for over 20 years, and a member of the woman’s sewing club.

Graveside services were held Saturday May 25, 2013 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain by the Rev. Billy Presley and the Rev. Preston Jernigan.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Elton Newbern and wife, Ann, of Enfield; daughters, Betty Ham and husband, Tom, of Wilson, and Donna Dunlow and husband, Sidney, of Colerain; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
