CORAPEAKE – Marie Williams, 96, of Corapeake Road, Corapeake, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Sentara Obici Hospital.

She was a native of Corapeake and the daughter of the late Oscar Williams and Ardella Benton Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Williams.

She was educated in the North Carolina School System. She was lauded with the lifetime achievement certificate in Early Childhood Education from New York University. She was a member of  Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Corapeake. She was the eldest member of the church (Mother).

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Della Mae Stewart of Brooklyn, NY, Christine E. Williams of Corapeake, and Etta Marie White (Dorian) of New York; sisters, Alene Boothe of Suffolk, VA and Lucinda Norgrove of New York; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; six extended family; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 22, 2013 at ZionTabernacle Baptist Church, 1261 NC Hwy 32 North, Corapeake, officiated by the Rev. William Norman. A wake will be held Thursday, February 21 from 5-7 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.
