AULANDER – Brenda Hope Allen Mitchell, age 44, of Hollowell Road, Aulander, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Mitchell was born in Halifax County on April 23, 1968, a daughter of Martin Douglas Allen and the late Evelyn Hope Smith Allen.  Brenda was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and attended Halifax Community College.  She was a loving wife and mother and she loved the Lord.

Besides her father, Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Michael Andrew Mitchell; her daughter, Lindsey Hope Mitchell; and her son, Michael Andrew Mitchell, Jr., all of the home.  She is also survived by her sister, Vicky Clay and husband, Robert, of Halifax, NC.  In addition to her mother, she is also predeceased by her loving father-in-law, Wilson Lee Mitchell

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Chapel, Ahoskie, with the Rev. E. Lee Penwell of South Mills, NC officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 19, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
