AHOSKIE – George Edward Bailey, Sr., age 74, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital.

George was born in Johnston County on September 18, 1938, a son of the late George Glen Bailey and Martha Brown Bailey.  He retired as a construction worker.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Peggy Ayscue Bailey; his daughter, Annette Lynn Baugham and husband, Herbert, of Rocky Mount; his son, George Edward Bailey, Jr. of Ahoskie;  sisters, Kathy Phelps and husband, Keith, of Edenton, Elsie Mae Peoples of Louisburg, and Shirley Hatcher and husband, Welton, of Oak Island; grandchildren, Shaun Ivey of Florida, Samuel Ivey and wife, B.J., of Millennium, and Kristal Bailey of Greenville; and great grandchild, Caleb Ivey of Milwaukee.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roxobel Kelford Cemetery with the Rev. J.N. Baggett officiating.  The family will receive friends at the home.
