Charles L. Weaver

MURFREESBORO– Charles Lavelle Weaver, 83, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A native of Harlem, NY, he was born April 9, 1929 to the late Isra Flood and P.C. Weaver and raised in Hertford County as he resided in Murfreesboro.

After graduating from Robert L.Vann High School in Ahoskie, he attended Shaw Universityfor a short time. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force for 22 years and then retired. After retiring, he attended UNC-Wilmington where he studied Biology and continued his education at Duke University inDurham where he was the first class of graduates in the Physician’s Assistant Program. He worked for many years as a Physician’s Assistant at Roanoke-Chowan Medical Center in Ahoskie, working alongside Dr. Joseph Weaver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Sullivan; and a brother, Johnnie T. Holloman.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory – two sons, Lago L. Weaver and Krista L. (Annette) Weaver; two grandchildren, Sierra Smith of Ahoskie and Lago Weaver of Charlotte; five great grandchildren, Kaylyn, Jerquan, Rimiez, Lauren, and Dairelion; a nephew, Tony; a niece, Linda; two special relatives who were like his brother and sister, Jonas Hunter and Angela Hunter Freeman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church of Ahoskie. The Rev. Robert Ashe will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
