COMO – Sandra Bridgers Worrell, 74, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.  She was a daughter of the late Russell H. and Bertha Britt Bridgers and was predeceased by a son, William R. “Bill” Worrell who passed away in 2010.

Sandra was a former employee of Sutton Construction Co. in NJ and was a retired sales person for Chatham Steel Corp. in Savannah, GA, with a sales territory that included NC, SC, GA, and FL.  One of her many accomplishments was negotiating a contract with Union Camp Corp. for a major expansion of its Savannah Mill.

Sandra was a member of Sunbeam Baptist Church, Franklin, VA., where she was a deacon and Sunday school teacher.  She was a former member and deacon of Monroe, Michigan Baptist Church, a former member of Milton United Methodist Church, Oak Ridge, NJ, and was a former Watch Care Member of Open Door Baptist Church, Clermont, FL.

Sandra loved to travel and visited on vacation or business all fifty states and several foreign countries.   She enjoyed camping with the family while the children were young, taking camping trips to FL, PA, and KA.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother and always put the family first.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, William F. Worrell, Jr.; a son, Gregory Alan Worrell of Palm Springs, CA; two grandchildren, William Britt Worrell and Keely Briana Worrell, both of Savannah; a daughter-in-law, Angela Yvette Worrell of Savannah; a sister, Shirley B. Crowder of Franklin, VA; and a brother, Ronnie R. Bridgers of Austin, AR.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Wright Funeral Home, 206 W. Fourth Ave., Franklin, VA with the Rev. Hoyle Green and the Rev. Willis Switzer officiating.  The burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery.
