Marion Duke Boone

CONWAY- Marion Duke Boone, 84, of Conway died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City after a brief illness.

She had been preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, L. E. Boone; and parents, Fred Douglas and Emma Lee Askew Duke.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed being a homemaker for her family.  Also, she was the neighborhood volunteer who collected for many of the worthy organizations such as American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and area blood drives. She was a member of Conway United Methodist Church and was best known for her joyful spirit and the fun she was to be with.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Duke Boone of Roanoke Rapids, Frank Otis Boone and wife, Sandra, of Milwaukee, and Mike Boone and wife, Mary Liz, of Elizabeth City; three grandchildren, Laura Boone of Baltimore, MD, Jeffrey Boone of Raleigh, and Olivia Boone of Elizabeth City; three brothers, Randolph Duke and wife, Sue, of Aurelian Springs, Frank Duke and wife, Maria, of Washington, and Tony Duke and wife, Linda, of Milwaukee.

The family will be receiving friends at the family home and, then, a visitation will be held at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway, Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m.  Her funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Conway United Methodist Church, Conway, with the Rev. Robert Hill presiding.  Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Dr., No, B, Greenville, NC 27834 or to American Heart Association, 3219 Landmark St., Greenville, NC 27834.
