Crash kills child

RICH SQUARE — A 10-year-old boy died in a crash on Highway 305 near Rich Square Saturday night and three other people in the vehicle are in critical condition, according to the state Highway Patrol.
Caziah Phillips was a left rear passenger in the 1999 Toyota driven by 30-year-old Catisha Phillips shortly before 9 p.m. Caziah was not wearing a seat belt when a 1995 Ford driven by Krista Whitaker, 26, of Rich Square, struck the vehicle driven by Catisha Phillips head-on.
Caziah died from injuries sustained in the impact. Catisha Phillips, of Jackson; Antwain Dickens, 20; and Cyree William-Lensey, 19, were critically injured in the crash.
Whitaker was traveling with a 4-year-old boy who was also injured.
There was no immediate indication alcohol was involved and charges by Trooper N.T. Hanline, who investigated the crash, are pending.
