MURFREESBORO — Murfreesboro Town Councilman Bill Theodorakis may not have won his bid for re-election, but he will still serve the town in a different capacity.

On Tuesday, Theodorakis was appointed to the Murfreesboro Planning and Zoning Board by his fellow council members.

Planning and Zoning Board Chair Hal Thomas was recently elected to the Murfreesboro Town Council and stepped down from his previous duties.

Councilwoman Sarah Wallace nominated Theodorakis to fill Thomas’s unexpired Planning and Zoning term that will end in 2013.

Following his nomination, Theodorakis said he would abstain from the ensuing discussion and vote.

Councilman Lloyd Hill offered a second to Wallace’s nomination. No other nominations were offered and the motion passed without objection.

In other Planning and Zoning Board news, it was announced at the council meeting that Lillie Owens White will be taking the office of Chair on that board.
