AHOSKIE – It’s back and bigger than ever!
Roanoke-Chowan Publications, LLC is proud to announce the May 2 release of its newest product – “Front Porch Living.” The magazine takes its name from the easy lifestyle of our local four-county area. It is solely the work of the same people that bring you the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, Gates County Index, r-cnews.com and The Portal, a daily e-mail.
This marks the third “Front Porch Living” magazine; the inaugural edition was released in late November of last year. The May edition contains more pages than its two predecessors.
Featured in the current edition are stories on the start-up of youth spring/summer baseball and softball; a look inside the famed Lasker Grand Ole Opry; how a local nurse turned a greenhouse into a thriving business; the community spirit of Chowan University students; the “magic” of on-stage performances at Ahoskie’s Gallery Theatre; and how a German native shares his love of music with local youngsters.
Additionally, the magazine includes its normal features – recipes from Mama’s Kitchen, Teen Tweet, a popular column for young people (this one dealing with preparing for the transition from high school to college) and The Great Outdoors, which contains tips for how to protect an outdoor patio.
“My Town” – which focuses on the communities of the Roanoke-Chowan area – features a look at Severn in Northampton County.
Also making a return is “View from the Front Porch.” Check out the pages in this edition to see if your local event was part of this photo feature.
New to “Front Porch Living” is a feature entitled – “A Conversation With ….” Check out who is featured in that question-and-answer forum. There is also a first-time feature on healthy lifestyles.
Copies of “Front Porch Living” will be distributed at 105 locations throughout the four-county area….places where people gather on a routine basis; medical facilities, restaurants, businesses, chamber of commerce offices, county/municipal government offices, hair salons, etc.
If you miss seeing a copy, call 252-332-2123. Subscriptions are available for only $20 per year (four issues).
