Betty Brittle Nance

JACKSON – Betty Brittle Nance, 91, passed away on January 9, 2011 after a long illness.

Mrs. Nance was born on April 4, 1919 in Conway, NC, the daughter of the late Joseph Exum Brittle, Jr. and Rebecca Temperance (Tempe) Vann Brittle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, S. Eugene Nance and her daughter, Betty Nance Weber.

She was valedictorian of the Conway High School class of 1935 and a 1937 graduate of Geyer Business College, Charlotte.  She was retired from the US Department of Agriculture Farmer’s Home Administration and a Public Accountant.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was active in her community for many years including 4-H Leader, Jackson Woman’s Club, and the Sallie Parker Sunday School Class of the Jackson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Nance Small and her husband, William, and their children, Kathryn, Jess, Hannah, Will and Zach.  She is also survived by a grandson, Lorenz Weber and her sister, Edith Brittle Joyner.

A graveside service will be held at Conway Cemetery on Saturday, January 15 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Foy Bradshaw officiating.
