Two arrested on gun charges

WOODLAND—Two men are behind bars after deputies responded to a call just north of here.

According to Northampton County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Brenda Burnette, dispatch received a call on Tuesday in reference to a person being threatened by two male subjects with guns in Arrowhead Mobile Home Park.

Burnette said once officers responded to the scene they found two guns and, upon investigating further, were able to locate two suspects and detained them.

After running the serial numbers, deputies discovered one of the fire arms had been stolen and the two men were taken into custody. The men arrested were identified as Reginald Johnson Jr., 18, and Darius Lewter, 22.

Johnson was charged with larceny of a fire arm and possession of a stolen fire arm. Johnson had his first court appearance on Thursday. He was place in the Northampton County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Lewter was charged with possession of a stolen fire arm. His appearance was on Thursday and he was placed in the Northampton County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond.

Burnette noted that there may be further charges pending for the two suspects as the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating who owns the other weapon.
