Sims faces multiple charges

WINTON – Investigation into a trio of break-ins led to an arrest here Tuesday night.

According to Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan, two officers – Captain Raymond Eure and Lt. Will Liverman – were investigating a three break-ins in the Winton area when they received information that led to an arrest.

The officers arrested Tammy Jean Sims, 37, of Murfree Street in Winton on more than a dozen charges in the three incidents. Sims was taken into custody Tuesday night at her home.

She was placed in the Hertford County Jail on charges including: three counts of breaking and entering, one count of injury to real property, possession of a stolen firearm, larceny of a firearm, six counts of common law forgery, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny after breaking and entering a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods, financial card fraud, identity theft, financial card theft, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a felon.

She was placed under a $330,000 secured bond.

“These officers did a fine job on this case,” Sheriff Vaughan said. “I am pleased with how quickly they were able to solve the case and make an arrest.”
