Rocky Mount sweeps Ahoskie

ROCKY MOUNT – Rocky Mount Post 58 swept a doubleheader here Saturday.

Post 58 defeated Ahoskie Post 102 by counts of 11-0 and 5-0 in the Senior American Legion baseball doubleheader.

In the first game, Rocky Mount scored an 11-0 win.

Post 58 scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and rolled to the victory. Post 102 recorded only two hits in the contest.

In the second game, Ahoskie dropped a 5-0 contest.

In the top of the first, with two out, Blake Hill was hit by a pitch and Eli Spruill singled to put runners on first and second. A strikeout, however, ended the threat.

In the top of the second, Ahoskie again threatened with two out.

Braxton Sumner and Zeek Williams had back-to-back singles before each advanced on a wild pitch.

A strikeout again ended the inning with the score still tied at zero.

Rocky Mount scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-0 lead.

Post 102 then recorded a final threat in the top of the fourth frame.

Clay Robbins reached on an error. Then, with two out, Robbins went to third on a Williams infield single. After Williams stole second, another strikeout ended the threat.

Post 58 scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth and went on for the victory.

Dakota Young pitched the complete game, but suffered the loss for Post 102. In six innings of work, he allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out three.

Ahoskie had four hits led by Williams with two.

Ahoskie dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in conference play with the doubleheader loss.
